UX Book Club - Where Good Ideas Come From: The Natural History of Innovation

Macquarium Charlotte (map)

Selected By: Andrew Hinton
As designers, we're often looked to as the resident experts for creativity and innovation. Johnson's book gives us a great framework for how innovation actually works, and tells some great stories too.

NOTE: If you need to call the venue (the Macquarium Charlotte office/loft) please call [masked].

Our next UX Book Club meeting will be about "Where Good Ideas Come From: The Natural History of Innovation" by Steven Johnson

As designers, we're often looked to as the resident experts for creativity and innovation. Johnson's book gives us a great framework for how innovation actually works, and tells some great stories too. If you're not familiar with Johnson's work, this is a great place to start: he's like Malcolm Gladwell, but with more depth and variety.

The Book: Available at Amazon

Time: 7:00 pm

Location: We will be meeting at Macquarium's Charlotte office/loft in NoDa. It's a bit tricky to find in the dark, so be sure to look at the map we posted explaining how you walk all the way back at Highland Mill lofts. (It's about 80% residential 20% commercial space.) http://uxbookclubclt....

Food: You may want to eat dinner beforehand, but we do plan to have some yummy hors d'oeuvres and stuff to drink.

Related Information:

What's a UX Book Club? Simple: just an informal group that uses books related to user-experience design as an excuse to get together now and then to learn, discuss and socialize.

Do I need to have read the whole book? Nope. We're all very busy people and sometimes don't have time to finish the book. Just come with an interest in the book and its topic, and a willingness to learn new stuff.

Are there other UX Book Clubs? Yes! For more information on UX Book Clubs check out the original wiki site: http://uxbookclub.org... Or follow the UX Book Club twitter feed: http://twitter.com/ux...

**Who is running this particular club? The Charlotte UX Book Club is a side project of Macquarium, a UX consultancy headquartered in Atlanta, with a growing outpost in Charlotte. It's a separate but complementary effort to the Charlotte UX Meetup.

We're rescheduling for June 1 since a lot of people had conflicts for May 11. I'll send another notice out shortly.
