Discussion Panel: How to integrate UX into the business, design & dev process

Myjive (at NC Music Factory) (map)

Selected By: Bermon Painter

We have an amazingly talented group showing up for a panel discussion on how to integrate UX into the business, design & development processes. I'm all giddy just thinking about it.

The Panel

  • Bill Baker - Director of Digital Services at Wray Ward
  • Rik Catlow - VP; Senior Visual Designer at Bank of America
  • Jennifer Downs - UX Designer at MailChimp
  • Ron Edelen - Creative Director at MyJive
  • Todd Moy - UX Designer at Viget Labs
  • Patrick Quattlebaum - Chief Experience Officer at Macquarium

The Discussion

Thanks for all of your questions. I've compiled a list of all of the relevant questions asked by the group. We'll use those as the base to our discussion. As we have the conversation feel free to ask questions relevant to the topic. For those that can't make it tonight, the meetup is being filmed by the awesome folks at Unmatched Style. Once it's up on their site we'll let everybody know.

Directions to MyJive

The easiest way to get there (and the only way I really know) is from N. Graham St. MyJive is just north of Elmwood & Pinewood Cemeteries in the same office space as Creative Loafing.

Going north on N. Graham Street:
If you're inside the 277 loop you'll travel north on Graham Street and stick to your left hand lane. You'll go under the 277 underpass then take your first left on Seaboard Street. There will be a left hand turn lane and I believe they have a big sign up with an arrow to "NC Music Factory".

NC Music factory will be on the right just after Maxwell Street. MyJive is the building across from the Black Bear Saloon there's a guest parking area in-between with a few parking spots. If those are full you can park on Seaboard St or if you keep following Seaboard St. it'll do a 90º turn to the right and become Hamilton St.

View a custom Google Map that highlights parking and the building that MyJive is in.

    Is there a reason why the meetups are almost always on Monday? That is the worst day of the week for me :/

    @Brent

    There are a couple of reasons our monthly meetups are always on Monday.

    • Most of the other meetups in the area are Tues or Thurs night. I try and avoid a conflict with them. Wednesday and Friday's are difficult nights for most folks to come out.
    • Since MyJive is at the NC Music Factory we have to schedule around event dates. There is almost never anything on Mondays so it makes it easy.

    Is there a list for people who want to come but can't RSVP because it's full?

    @joshua

    It *should* still let you RSVP and get on the waiting list.
