Myjive (at NC Music Factory) (map)
I'm excited to have the one and only Rik Catlow (@rikcat) presenting this months meetup, "Sketching. A lost art?". Rik currently works as the Sr. Visual Designer of mobile banking at BOA. He's one of those people I'd consider a jack of all trades, master of many. He's an amazing interaction designer but he's also an accomplished artist and that makes him the perfect person to come speak to us about sketching. Check out some of his work.

I had planned to attend, but never found the location. Being new to Charlotte, I am not familiar with the venue or the area, and apparently my GPS isn't either! I understand the "share the wealth" idea of moving locations w/ each meetup but keeping the venues to 2 or 3 regular locations would be very helpful to newcomers like myself. Thx
Kenn,
I don't want the location to be a negative aspect to the event and I hope that future events would continue to be held at Myjive. Please give us a call if you have trouble finding it - the NC Music Factory is a cool spot in Charlotte. 704-334-4615
I had a great time. Thanks to Rik for the killer insights and thanks to Bermon for pulling it together!
Ron
Hey Kenn,
Thanks for the feedback. I definitely agree on keeping the venues to 2-3 locations. My plan is to keep it at just 1 unless there's something specific where we'd need to go elsewhere. Ron and crew at MyJive were great hosts and the space is perfect for the type of meetups we have.
I'll do a better job making sure information on how to get to meetups, parking, etc get out to everybody in advance.
Really enjoyed this meetup and I thought the space was perfect. My GPS actually had a little problem finding it too but once I got there I was really impressed. Would love to come back to it. Thanks for hosting, Ron!
I really enjoyed the talk and meeting everyone. I'm already looking forward to the next meeting.
Also, here's a resource you might be interested in http://www.uistencils.com/
They have free sketching templates for iPad, iPhone, Android and websites, even if you do not purchase their wares.
Happy Sketching!
I could post a bunch of resources about sketching but this post at InspireUX has a really good exhaustive list of them. Check it out.

Apropos, some links for sketch tools. Not that any paper/pen combo isn't appropriate, but some people like structure. http://www.tuaw.com/2010/08/11/iphone-post-it-notes-take-...
